The heart of the Clockwork Tower, this room houses a hollow pedestal where Earthheart Emeralds should reside. The Eternity Warden stands sentinel in this room, its mechanical eyes always watching for threats.
Finding replacement crystals would require a trip to the luminous-caverns, where the Earthheart Emeralds can be harvested from the rock.

As you enter this grand chamber, your eyes are immediately drawn to a magnificent pedestal in its center, designed to house the illustrious Earthheart Emeralds. The room hums with a kind of temporal energy that makes your senses tingle and the very air seem thicker.
Towering above the pedestal is the awe-inspiring figure of a distinctive construct guardian, its mechanical form gleaming with polished brass, steel, and shimmering crystal. It grasps a sizable staff that pulsates with the same scintillating energy as the guardian wielding it.
The room itself seems to be suspended in time, with every gear, clock hand, and pendulum moving in a surreal and mesmerizing dance. As the large construct turns its attention to you, the weight of the room’s importance becomes abundantly clear.

Deep within the Clockwork Tower lies its very heart and lifeblood: the Earthheart Emeralds. Mined from the ethereal depths of the luminous-caverns, these radiant gems are not just stones of beauty but the vital source powering the entire Tower. Their legends are manifold, their significance immeasurable. The Clockwork Tower does not have enough emeralds and require more. The DM can choose the amount of Earthheart Emeralds that must be mined:
- Novice adventurers are charged with gathering a mere 5 lbs
- Medium level PCs should mine 15 to 20 lbs
- Experienced PCs will need to mine 100 lbs
Watching over this irreplaceable treasure is the Eternity Warden, a sentinel dedicated to the Timepiece’s protection. While its primary essence is rooted in defense, it possesses the wisdom to negotiate if adventurers’ motives align with preserving the Timepiece.

Refueling the Clockwork Tower with Earthheart Emeralds
Locating the Pedestal
As the adventurers enter the chamber, they’ll notice an intricate and ornate pedestal, shimmering faintly with temporal energy, positioned centrally.
Closer examination of the pedestal will show engraved patterns depicting clockwork gears and time-themed motifs.
Preparing the Earthheart Emeralds
Each Earthheart Emerald needs to be inspected for impurities. Imperfections could disrupt the energy flow.
Using a simple jeweler’s loupe (or a mage’s discerning eye), scrutinize each emerald. Remove any impurities using a fine chisel or by channeling a minor purification spell.
The emeralds should now pulse with a gentle inner light, ready to be harnessed.
Activating the Pedestal
The pedestal bears a series of small, circular indentations on its top surface. These are sockets designed specifically for Earthheart Emeralds.
Begin by touching an emerald to a socket. If the emerald is correctly prepared, it will levitate slightly and fit snugly into the socket on its own.
As each emerald is placed, the engravings on the pedestal will start to glow brighter, and the room will fill with the harmonious hum of stabilizing energy.
Channeling the Power
Once all the required Earthheart Emeralds are in place, adventurers need to initiate the energy transfer. A successful Intelligence (Arcana) check DC 14 would help to determine the best way to channel power (described below).
To do this, the party must gather around the pedestal. Each member should place a hand on the pedestal’s surface and concentrate, envisioning the energy from the emeralds flowing into the tower.
Arcane users in the party might feel a strong pull as they guide the raw energy into the tower’s core, recharging its mechanisms.
Signs of Successful Refueling
The Clockwork Tower’s internal mechanisms will begin operating more smoothly. The erratic behaviors, the flickering of rooms, and the power fluctuations will start to diminish.
The humming sound will stabilize, transforming into a rhythmic heartbeat, synchronized with the tower’s now seamless operations.
Final Steps
With the power successfully channeled, the emeralds will have dulled slightly, their energy now fueling the tower. The party should leave the emeralds in their sockets; removing them could disrupt the stabilization process.
As a sign of gratitude, the Eternity Warden will present a Temporal Quill as a gift from the tower and a testament to the adventurers’ accomplishment.
