Geronde Family

House Geronde is a noble family from Haven, originating from the city’s founding. The family’s motto is “What you fear, we master”. The family crest features a wrecked grinning monster’s face on the yellow background. It was founded by the famous dragon slayer Ekhan Geronde approximately 5 generations ago. Nesan Geronde, Ekhan’s grandson, haunts the family mausoleum (see Sins of the Past).

Generations ago the Geronde Family was known in Haven as fearless and experienced monster hunters who always succeeded in their job. They specialized in the many uses of monsters, they capture and sell monsters both as pets and guard beasts. Those that couldn’t be tamed are harvested for every part of their body, from their skin and bones to their flesh and organs.

Eventually the family fell upon hard times and lost most of its greatness until Lady Rowena Geronde became its matriarch. Rowena decided to beat the new merchant class at their own game using her abilities as an enchantress of magical items. She now runs by far the largest establishment producing magically-enhanced goods in Haven. Her shrewd business sense has enabled her to prosper, and she has used a sizable portion of that newfound wealth to repurchase the family’s land holdings, and restore their stately mansion in The The Heights, just inside the city walls.

Private

Rowena has been widowed for ten years, and is often preoccupied with business matters; consequently the family (now consisting of her husband’s deaf-mute brother Udral, Rowena, and her four children) is not a close-knit one, and each of its members lead largely separate lives.
