A rollicking dockside tavern
Description
The Parrot is run by Pegleg Peter, a stout, good-natured fellow with a thick reddish beard and earrings in both ears, who gets around reasonably well on a sturdy crutch and a peg leg. The tavern is a favorite of sailors on shore leave, and is generally a loud, bawdy party of wine, ale, women, and many ribald entertainments, that frequently last through the night and into the next morning.
The chief entertainer is Jigger Cassadi, who plays a mean guitar, and also plays the more dangerous game of being a Thieves Guild informant (he has a 30% chance of knowing given information about any ship on the docks). There are also a number of “barmaids”, who provide a different sort of entertainment to any sailor who cares to offer them a coin.
The exception is Brandie whoworks layin’ whisky down in the Parrot (Brandy, Looking Glass). Brandie is in love with a sailor who came on a summer’s day, bringin’ gifts from far away. But he made it clear he couldn’t stay, no harbor was his home. Brandie wears a braided chain made of finest silver from which hangs a locket that bears the name of the man that Brandie loves. All the regulars know her sad story and feel protective of her. They will often say: “Brandie, you’re a fine girl. What a good wife you would be. Yeah, your eyes could steal a sailor from the sea.”
