We are patrolling near the docks at night. We heard a crash and saw a wooden ship that had crashed into the jetty. The dockmaster, indicated that he heard the crash, but we see no people. The ship is called the Nightmare. Penelope remembers a rumor “Did you hear about the ship that was lost at sea, The Nightmare? They say that it was carrying a fortune in gold and jewels now everyone is looking for the wreckage. ”
We told the dockmaster to stay back and if he sees guards, to have them setp a perimeter. We started exploring the ship. The ship is eerily quiet. Fortunately Turin is familiar with ships, so he is able to lead things.
On the back, looking at the steering wheel, we saw blood where something had been dragged. Moving to the front of the ship, we saw what Penelope identified as ballista. There is no shrine to Nenya, the goddess of the sea, which isnusual.
The captain ‘s quarters are luxurious, but normal. Arada tries to open the sea chest. It is filled with women’ s clothing. Is the captain a woman?
The front of the ship is the officer ‘s mess. There is an overturned inkwell that has dried on a map. The meal is cold, but not rotten. It looks like they were interrupted mid-meal.
We go to explore down below. It reeks of death and decay. Flies, stench. Penelope hurls at the stench. Martin ritually casts Detect disease while Eugene makes some masks. The crew cabin in the front lower deck looks like it is a massacre scene. Hard to tell if people lost them in a fight or before the fight. Penelope found a severed arm.
We explore the back. More signs of combat around the officer quarters. We find a rat body with a large bite out of it.
We open the hatch to the hold. The stench is worse. Martin tosses a torch down. Arada suggests we tie a rope to her so Penelope can pull herp if needed. Arada goes down and sees six bodies and lots of blood.
Against better judgement, we do down into the hatch and find ghouls. Combat ensues. One ghoul is quickly dispatched, but another gets the drop on Turin and paralyzes him.
The captain of the ship closed the hatch ons, and wantss to leave. We search the hold and are sure there is nothing there. We agree to leave.
As we leave, @UUID[JournalEntry. 4pk1PyuDgUzhhqwZ]{Lucille Rilossa} (Our guard friend from the other day) runsp and then agrees to go get help. We see the captain on the deck jump off the far side. With nothing left to do, we return to the Giggling Griffon to fill in Captain Lyza.
