We wake in the morning and decide to head to the church. We discuss if we need a cover story but the truth will suffice. As we wander north of the village, the closer we get to where the church would be, it gets foggier. Turin detects that we are being followed. Possible two two legged things, or one four legged thing, or an eight legged thing walking on its hind legs.

It realizes it has been spotted and fades into the mist, but we can tell it is pacings. Eventually the fog clears and we come to the church. Arada and Martin go to look in the windows. Peeking in the window of the building on the east, we see a bedroom, cupboard, and person seated at a desk. Further on is a blue stained glass window we can ’ t see through. There are more windows on the back, and side. Martin thinks there is an evil presence. Martin continues to sense evil through the windows. The gargoyle statues also ping evil. Martin also is pretty sure the church is still consecrated.
One of the gargoyles comes in looking menacing. We attack it, doing some damage, but they are tough. Hits from the group smashes it to pieces. We keep an eye on the others as Penelope knocks on the door.
The front doors are 12 foot tall ironwood doors. As we approach, we feel a shiver of cold. There is no answer, so we enter. We hear chanting from the inside of the church, and the doors close behinds. We are attacked by rats. Big rats but notnusually large rats. Turin notices that the rat ’ s eyes are totally blank. Suddenly Penelope loses the ability to speak, as if a magical electric field called Discord is borked. When she smashes the rat, she can speak again.
We go in, and see a couple nuns who are chanting. Turn is overtaken by the chanting and prostrates himself on the ground. The nuns move to attack.
Eugeneses his first ever second level spell to web the area. Martin puts a sanctuary around Turin and goes to shield. The nuns are attacking anyway. Turin snaps out of it. We are trying to stop the nuns. After a bit of combat, an older woman at the front says she will take care of this. Martin tries to calm emotions. One of the nuns seem confused as to what is going on. We down all the nuns, to several of our chagrins.
The old woman at the front is still mad ats. Eugene tries to sleep her but she shrugs it off. Penelope tries to subdue her, she dodges it. She casts a spell hurting Penelope badly. Eugene endsp killing her.
To our left we see a ghost, on top of a glowing sigil. It approachess. Penelope swings, but her sword goes right through it. Turin ’ s hunter ’ s mark does mild damage. The ghost attacks Martin but misses. Arada tries to distract the ghost, since it seems only magic hurts it. Fortunately Eugene has magic and splats it.
On the body, Martin finds a symbol of Mandos that has been corrupted. She also has a dagger that gives off a dark aura of necrotic energy that is obvious to all. Eugene searches a desk and finds a couple books. Two appear to be from a set of books containing treatises on how to reanimate a body. Turin finds a not so secret door near the altar. On it is a dagger and some candles. Possibly with some dried blood. Behind the altar is a leather book that gives off a weird vibe. Penelope notices the glowing sigil is still glowing. Martin gives Penelope his mace and holds her beer. Penelope shatters the crystal which becomes a lot of smaller glowing pieces.
Eugene investigates the three books. The books seem to be possessed. They are a trilogy, “The Books of New Living”and are about how to reanimate bodies.
