# Outline
# Introduction
> [!read-aloud] **Read Aloud**
>
 > It is early in the morning, just after dawn, and you are on patrol in the most affluent part of the city, when you hear horns being blown, the signal that there are guards who need help.
 >
 > As you approach the source of the noise, you hear panicked voices shouting, as well as rumbling and crashing, and then suddenly a monstrous roar, followed by more crashing and shouting. Terrified citizens run past you, trying to escape.
 >

# Act I
> [!read-aloud] **Read Aloud**
>
 > When you arrive on the scene, you see an enormous creature has entered the city by tunnelling under the city wall, demolishing part of it in the process. Other City Watch guards are unsuccessfully trying to fend off the creature with spears.
 >

The PCs should notice that they are not far from Lord Tograf's mansion.

The beast is a ![[1237306]]|Mole Dragon and four other guards are attempting to hold it off.

After a round or two of combat, it should be obvious that the creature cannot be stopped. It will then resume tunnelling, heading in the direction of the mansion. Its location can be seen from disturbances on the surface (its crest breaks the surface like a shark's fin). It tunnels at 30' per turn but the PCs can outrun it easily.

Hopefully, the PCs will decide to run ahead and warn Lord Tograf . If not, Lyza will appear, take command, and order them to do that.

# Act II
> [!read-aloud] **Read Aloud**
>
 > As you approach the residence, you can hear a high pitched squealing coming from a garden behind the mansion.
 >

Assuming they go around back...
> [!read-aloud] **Read Aloud**
>
 > In a garden bhind the mansion you see three men standing beside a cart. In a cage, on the cart there appears to be a much smaller version of what you were just fighting. This one is the size of a large dog, and seems to be crying.
 >

![[1237164]]|Braxter and two ![[1237175]]|henchmen are lurking there. The beast in the cage is baby mole dragon crying for its mother...who is on her way!

The GM should make it clear that the baby is just behind the mansion, and that the mother will soon come crashing through the building to get to it.

If the PCs act quickly, they can defeat the enemy, and return the baby to its mother before any more devastation is caused. The baby could also be used to lure the mother back out of the city. If the PCs fail, or take too long, the mother will arrive, destroying Lord Tograf's mansion on the way.

Assuming the PCs start running towards the mansion as soon as the mole dragon starts tunnelling, and they investigate the noise straight away, they will have five turns to defeat the enemy, leaving one turn to move the cart to a position where the mother can find it without destroying the mansion. The GM should build tension during this time, describing how the monster is getting closer and closer.

Lord Tograf is in the mansion with his family. The noise will wake them but not in time to evacuate the building before the Mole Dragon reaches it, unless the PCs intervene. If the mansion is destroyed, Lord Tograf will survive, badly injured. It is up to the GM to decide if there are any other casualties.

If the PCs fail to reunite the baby with its mother, Count Jasper will eventually arrive on the scene and do it for them, or calm the Mole Dragon down using magic, and send it back out into the wilderness.

# Act III
In The Giggling Gargoyle, the mood will very much depend on whether or not the PCs managed to prevent a disaster.

If you intend to play Sessions 9 and 10, Lyza will appear and inform the PCs that she has identified the mastermind behind all the recent attacks (perhaps from a captured henchman, using the cursed amulet from session 7). The villain is none other than Count Jasper, and he must be stopped. Jasper will be a very dangerous adversary, and Lyza tells the PCs she will need their help!
