# Properties
**Soul Trap.**
The Cursed Mirror has the ability to trap the soul of a dying creature. When held up to a creature that is reduced to 0 hit points within 30 feet, the wielder can use their reaction to attempt to trap the creature's soul. The creature must make a DC 15 Charisma saving throw. On a failure, the soul is captured inside the mirror. On a success, nothing happens, and the soul passes on as normal.

**Transfer Soul.** Once a soul is trapped inside the mirror, the wielder can use an action to transfer the soul into another suitable vessel (such as a doll or a construct) within 10 feet. The new vessel animates and follows simple commands given by the wielder. However, this bond is unstable, and the vessel remains animated for 24 hours before the soul dissipates unless a more permanent binding ritual is performed.

**Free a Trapped Soul.** As an action, the wielder can attempt to release a soul trapped inside the mirror, freeing it from its curse. The wielder must make a DC 14 Charisma saving throw to release the spirit peacefully. On a failure, the soul instead lashes out, dealing 4d6 psychic damage to the wielder and remaining trapped.

**Cursed Insight.** The mirror also allows the wielder to communicate with trapped souls. Once per long rest, the wielder can ask the trapped soul one question. The soul is compelled to answer truthfully, though its knowledge is limited to what it knew in life.

Description

The Cursed Mirror was once a mundane object, a beautifully crafted heirloom, until the toy maker-driven by grief and desperation-imbued it with dark magic in an attempt to hold onto the soul of his deceased daughter. Using forbidden arcane rituals, he trapped her soul inside the mirror, intending to transfer it into one of his life-sized dolls. The magic succeeded, but at a terrible cost. His daughter’s spirit became twisted, full of rage and sorrow, animating the cursed doll that now haunts the toy shop. The mirror’s true power lies in its ability to trap and manipulate souls, making it a tool of both salvation and corruption. While it can free the toy maker’s daughter and bring peace to her tormented soul, it can also serve darker purposes, allowing the wielder to imprison other souls for their own gain. Its cursed nature ensures that it tempts those who use it, luring them into exploiting its dark power.

Attunement

The mirror bonds itself to the wielder, slowly influencing their thoughts. After attuning, the wielder might begin seeing fleeting reflections of their own face twisted in fear or pain. The wielder must succeed on a DC 12 Wisdom saving throw each day or suffer from nightmares involving the souls trapped within.
