# General Info
Cael Thraelive is a male half-elf cult fanatic (NE). He keeps his long hair tied back with a leather cord at the nape of his neck, and he wears a fine sky-blue robe and a matching pointed hat embroidered with silver moon crescents and Tiny stars. Cael is reserved, bordering on aloof, and he speaks with an articulate voice.

Ever since he was young, Cael has heard sinister voices whispering in his head. However, a year ago, they convinced him to start a cult. He has slowly gathered followers and grown in power through dark rituals.

At present, Cael is travelling through small towns and rural villages to search for gullible or malicious people whom he can convert.

**Armour and weapon:** Cael carries a concealed ceremonial dagger and wears inconspicuous tight- fitting leather armour under his elegantly flowing robe. He also wields a wooden staff carved with elegant runes and intricate patterns.

**Trait:** I love listening to other people's tales of misfortune.

**Ideal:** Zealousness. I always follow the guidance of the voices in my head, no matter what the price.

**Bond:** I would kill - or die - for my deity.

**Flaw:** I am inflexible and rigid in my thinking.

## Information
Cael Thraelive presents himself as a distinguished wizard from Northwind Gate. He is more than willing to share that he noticed that Artemis looked pale and when he left the dinner table the previous day. He will also share that he has noticed that Inga appears to be very drawn nervous and that [[plots/murder-at-the-old-wolf-inn/npcs/vittra-northdaughter|Vittra Northdaughter]] seems to have a sceptical attitude towards mages.

Cael is secretly pleased that someone has committed cold-blooded murder in his presence and is keen to figure out who did it, as the murderer could be an ideal follower of his evil deity.

## What He Hides
Cael is devoted to his shadowy deity and utterly dark at heart, but he works hard to maintain the facade of a good-natured wizard. However, he is always looking for new cult members, and he might reveal his true character and try to convert the person if he believes that he has found someone who is like-minded.

## What He Lies About
Cael will claim that he slept soundly through the entire night and heard nothing out of the ordinary. This isn't true, and if he is pressed, he will admit that he saw [[plots/murder-at-the-old-wolf-inn/npcs/jon-callion|Jon Callion]] quietly knock on [[plots/murder-at-the-old-wolf-inn/npcs/artemis-nahanna|Artemis Nahanna]] door near midnight. Cael heard them speak to each other with hushed voices, and saw Jon hand over a potion. Cael could not make out what they said, but Artemis appeared thankful for the vial.

What Cael omits to mention is that he in fact quietly left his room during midnight to make sure that no one was awake, as he was about to carry out his nightly religious ceremony.
