The Ebony Whistle of Taming has been created by a renowned beastmaster, Erind Wen Beermaster. He sought a way to connect with beasts on a level of mutual respect and understanding. After years of research and experimentation, he infused this whistle with a powerful enchantment, using rare materials and ancient rituals. The whistle has since passed through the hands of various adventurers, each using its power to forge alliances with the creatures of the wild.
Item Type: Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement)
Use/Activation: As an action, the user can blow the whistle while maintaining eye contact with a beast within 30 feet. The beast must be able to see the user and have an Intelligence of 4 or lower. The beast becomes tamed and friendly to the user, obeying their commands to the best of its ability.
Duration: The effect lasts for d6 hours. Once the effect ends, the creature remembers its time under the whistle’s influence but does not necessarily become hostile unless provoked.
Charges: The whistle can be used once per day. It regains all expended charges at dawn.
Special: If the whistle is used on a beast that already has an owner or has been tamed by another, the user must make a Charisma (Animal Handling) check contested by the original owner’s Charisma (Animal Handling) check. The higher result wins the beast’s loyalty.
Notes: If the beast is forced to act against its nature or self-preservation instincts, it may make a Wisdom saving throw of DC 15 to break free from the whistle’s influence.
