Special Abilities

Immovable. The huge mimic stick firmly to the ground and cannot be moved involuntarily.

Shapechanger. The mimic can use its action to polymorph into an object or back into its true, amorphous form. Its statistics are the same in each form. Equipment is not transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.

False Appearance (Object Form Only). While motionless, the mimic is indistinguishable from an ordinary object.

Adhesive Pseudopods. The pseudopods adhere to anything they touch. A creature adhered to one is also grappled by it (escape DC 13). Ability checks made to escape this grapple have disadvantage.

Grappler. The mimic has advantage on attack rolls against any creature grappled by it.

Magic Resistance. The mimic has advantage on all saving throws against spells and magic.

Regeneration. As one of their attacks, the mimic can swallow a pseudopod to instantly heal 30 hps. It regenerates a new pseudopod in 1d4 days.

Actions

Multi-Attack. The mimic can make two attacks. One with its pseudopod and one with its bite.

Spit.

Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 30 ft., one target.

Hit: 9 (2d8) acid damage.

Pseudopod.

Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target.

Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) bludgeoning damage and grappled. A Pseudopod that is already grappling someone does not attack again but instead tries to pull their victim ten feet closer by winning an opposed Athletics check.

Bite.

Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target.

Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) piercing damage plus 4 (1d8) acid damage.

  • If the target is Small, it must succeed on a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw or be swallowed by the mimic. A swallowed creature is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the mimic, and it takes 7 (2d6) acid damage at the start of each of the mimic’s turns.
  • If the mimic takes 10 damage or more on a single turn from a creature inside it, the mimic must succeed on a DC 21 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate all swallowed creatures, which fall prone in a space within 10 feet of the mimic.
  • If the mimic dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse by using 20 feet of movement, exiting prone.
